Acne in adults can be caused by a number of different factors, ranging from common suspects such as hormones and stress to less likely abusers such as drugs and makeup brushes. Some acne triggers are hard to avoid, but there are ways to take control of them. One way is with your diet.
“Many people don’t realize that it is what they eat that is causing their acne,” said beautician Crystal Wellman. “By modifying a few foods you eat, you can hydrate and improve your skin while avoiding rashes,” she says.
Here are four foods to avoid to fight against acne :
Excessive consumption of sodium can dehydrate your skin and cause swelling. This can make it more difficult to heal the skin after an escape. To remove hidden salt from your diet, be sure to wash all canned foods, such as beans and vegetables, and avoid adding salt.
Bread and refined grains
Refined grains have a high glycemic index and can increase blood sugar, which causes an explosion of insulin, between elder an increase in rashes. For a healthy alternative to carbohydrates, choose brown rice, rich in vitamin B, a vitamin known to fight stress and regulate hormone levels.
Milk without fat contains bioavailable hormones, which can cause rashes in some people. Instead, try almond milk: it contains 50% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin E, which contains antioxidants that are great for the health of your skin.
There is no way out, alcohol dehydrates your skin, which increases wrinkles and prevents the skin from healing. To make matters worse, adding sweet cranberry juice or other sweeteners to the cocktail creates a nightmare for your skin. If you consume alcohol, drink it as it is without additives and feed it throughout the evening.
